I only know of 2 ways to rectify the situation, however both are fairly easy. The quick dirty mode is to install threshold strips in each of the short doorways. Downside, yous'll be putting in a trip hazard. The improve manner, imo, is to supercede the doors. It looks like yours are basic hollow cadre slab doors, which you tin can pick upwards at Lowes or Home Depot for near $30-$40 each. If yous're decently handy, you tin install them yourself, if not, you should be able to find a local handyman to do information technology for you at a reasonable price. As a DIY project, you're looking at about $150 in material and specialty tools (hole saw kit, mortise template), assuming yous have the basics like a skil saw and drill.

If you lot don't want to modify out the doors, you can always but add small strips to the bottom of the doors, employ putty and sand them downward and repaint. You would never know.

Looks to me like the carpeting was actually thick or the gap was pretty large already.I concur about a gap for apportionment if you have fundamental rut and air. but 2" is alot.

Since the doors are painted, go get some cheap lumber strips to add to the bottom.. The doors are likely 1 3/4" thick, but measure out but to exist certain. So you'll likely need 1 3/four" x 36" 10 maybe 1/2" high. Take off the doors, nail or glue the strips to the bottom, sand them, paint the whole door, rehang.

As barking spider has stated, the easiest and best looking solution, since these are just painted hollow cadre affluent doors is to add a small strip of forest to the bottom, sand, fill with water putty, sand, and paint. It is easy and should look fine. If you had fancier six panel unpainted doors this would be more difficult. It would be more work, but you could remove the trim, cut the nail through the jamb and then cut a small amount off the bottom of each jamb, and so reinstall. This would also crave you to repaint above each door also. The first solution is easier. Personally, well-nigh folks would only live with them. Frank

Thanks for all tips folks. I may try the "lumber strips" method as it seems to be the easiest. Should I become to Hd and inquire for lumber strips cut out to my door measurements?

You lot volition need to measure how recollect your interior doors are...they are probably 1 3/8" thick. And so yous will need someone to airplane downwardly and cut a 2x2 a bit to get to that thickness. Any woodworker friend who has a table saw or a planer could do this for you lot. You will demand to verify that thickness, then measure how much yous wish to extend the door, then how wide each door is. For example, you might want some strips i three/8" thick by 5/8" thick by 32" long. When y'all get them, prime them commencement, then glue and nail them to the underside of the doors. putty, sand and paint. Frank

Years agone we had a business firm with those same doors. The original carpet when we moved in was a very thick orangish shag. We tore it out and re did the oak floors. The event was stunning however our doors looked like yours. A huge gap. It really bugged me. We replaced all the interior doors with white embossed. I was lucky and found an former hardware store going out of business and got them for 5 bucks each! It was a cracking buy just replacing the doors actually made a huge touch on the over all look of the house. I would exercise it once again in a heartbeat fifty-fifty if I had to pay full retail. You could probably replace the doors for embossed ones for nigh 23 - 25 dollars depending in size. It really does modify the whole feel of the house.
